According to a USA Today story, the Big Ten Conference on Monday said in a statement it will remove Joe Paterno's name from the football championship trophy given to the winner of the league's conference title game.
Paterno was fired as Penn State's football coach last week in the aftermath of the child sex abuse scandal that has implicated former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
The trophy, which is scheduled to be given out for the first time this year, was to be called the Stagg-Paterno Trophy, according to the USA Today story. It will now be called the Stagg Championship Trophy, according to the story
