VAN WERT, Ohio (21Alive) - A Northwest Ohio teenager died Wednesday in a crash along SR637.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says just before 3 p.m., Robert Seffernick, 17, of Melrose, Ohio, was driving his car northbound on SR637 near Elm Sugar Road when he lost control on the snow-covered roadway.

Seffernick slid left-of-center and collided with a Jeep driven by David Simko, 64, of Toledo, Ohio.

The force of the crash rolled the Jeep onto its top, police say.

Seffernick died at the scene.

Simko was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition.

Both Seffernick and Simko were we wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not thought a factor in the crash.
