Thursday Noon Update: Asst. Principal still in Jail

By Nicole Pence

A Wayne High School assistant principal remains behind bars, after police arrested him Wednesday for a sex crime. Nicole Pence updates the story during Thursday’s noon broadcast.

36-year old Kristopher Sennett was hand-cuffed around two yesterday after meeting with Fort Wayne Community Sschool officials. He was then booked into Allen County lock-up, where he's still being held in lieu of five-thousand dollars' bail. He only needs to post 500-dollars to be back on the streets.

Sennett is charged with two counts of child seduction, after admitting to police, less than a week ago, that he was "in love" and "having a relationship" with a 17-year-old junior. He would not admit to police anything sexual happened between them.

According to state law, child seduction occurs when a person at least 18 years old and in a supervisory role, such as school district worker, has sex or engages in sexual acts with a child who is at least 16 but younger than 18.

FWCS administrators suspended Sennett last week, when the allegations surfaced. The School Board won't decide his fate in the district until their March 24th school board meeting.

Sennett worked in the Indianapolis Public School system for about ten years. According to papers, his roles included social studies teacher, a department head position, and then a job as the technology department head.

At Wayne High School, his assistant principal duties included disciplinary matters. Indiana’s NewsCenter also learned he often read the daily announcements over the p-a system to students.

He's expected to have an initial hearing at some point on Thursday.

This story will be updated.
