Local Clinton and Obama Volunteers Gear Up for Indiana Primary

By Jeff Neumeyer

The eyes of the nation are on Pennsylvania Tuesday, but volunteers for Clinton and Obama here in Fort Wayne aren't forgetting that Indiana's Primary looms on the horizon.

The Clinton and Obama campaign offices in the City can almost see the finish line now, with Indiana's Primary set for May 6th.

Both campaign headquarters are making calls to voters, gauging where support for their candidate is coming from, and pushing to get their backers to the polls come election day.

Obama volunteers planned to walk neighborhoods in Fort Wayne to try and sway support to their candidate.

At the Clinton office on Taylor Street, volunteers were making calls to people hundreds of miles away in Pennsylvania.

Both sides were busy with their own strategies.

Michael Pleyte/Clinton Supporter: " Every state matters and we know Indiana's going to be really important in a couple of weeks, but today is Pennsylvania's day and so all the volunteers here, um, we're really making sure that we can help our friends out in Pa."

Craig Hanford/Obama Supporter: " Tonight, we'll be going door to door canvassing, what we call canvassing. If we have a supporter, we're going to go and do everything we can to encourage them to get to the polls."

As local Clinton people made their calls to Pennsylvania, they used the phrase; “I'm a volunteer for Hillary Clinton here in Pennsylvania”.

Both camps planned to watch the Pennsylvania election returns Tuesday evening, before gearing up for the final two week push in Indiana.
