Deadly Fire in Indy early Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Two children were killed early Sunday morning in a house fire on Indianapolis' northeast side.

According the the Indianapolis Fire Department, the fire started at around 5 a.m. at the 3600 block of Hillside Avenue.

Officials said that two of the six occupants of the house escaped. The firefighters rescued an adult, a teen, and two children. The officials said the children died from their injuries. The adult and teen were listed in serious condition late Sunday morning.

IFD Capt. Gregg Harris said the fire was especially sad because it occurred on Mother's Day.

Investigators said the fire was an accident, but they are working to determine an exact cause.
