Sheriff Accused of Sexual Harassment

Sheriff Accused of Sexual Harassment

By Nina Settappa

CORYDON, Ind. (AP) - A Harrison County commissioner says the
sheriff should step down while the government investigates sexual
harassment allegations against him.

Two female employees have filed federal sexual harassment claims
against Sheriff Mike Deatrick.

A dispatch supervisor and a dispatcher both say Deatrick engaged
in lewd behavior. Deatrick declined to comment. County Commissioners board president James Goldman says commissioners in the southern Indiana county are considering their own investigation.

The county has paid more than $60,000 in the last nine months to
settle four federal lawsuits against the sheriff's department by employees whose legal actions began as charges of discrimination.
