Supreme Court Suspends Lawyer for Three Years

Supreme Court Suspends Lawyer for Three Years

By Nina Settappa

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Supreme Court has handed a three-year suspension to a Bloomington attorney who was named as a
beneficiary on a client's will.

The court voted 3-2 yesterday to suspend David Colman. Two judges said that Colman should have been disbarred. Colman said he wasn't aware of the suspension and had no comment.

The court also said that Colman had deposited some $50,000 belonging to a client into his personal bank account.

It also found that Colman acted improperly when he suggested a
client transfer ownership of his condominium to him to avoid a forfeiture due to criminal charges.
