Results: Poll question on citizenship proof when voting

By Peter Neumann

FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Having voters show proof of citizenship before they can vote is something being debated in the Missouri Legislature. If passed, the "Show Me" state might be called the "Prove It" state.

In Indiana, voters are required to show a state issued photo ID before being able to cast their votes, but proof of citizenship would take it a step further. Proponents of the Missouri measure say IDs can easily be forged.

In an online webpoll this week, Indiana's NewsCenter posed the question "Should voters be required to show proof of citizenship?"

61 percent of respondents said Yes. 39 percent said No. Close to 400 people participated in the poll on www.indianasnewscenter.com.
