ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - An Anderson High School science teacher has been reprimanded for writing a note that called for a student to be banished from the human race for lack of work.

Teacher Paul Tappan wrote the disciplinary note May 9th saying sophomore Ranisha Dillard wasn't doing enough work and was talking
in class.

Anderson Community Schools Superintendent Mikella Lowe says the
note was inappropriate and principals had taken steps to make sure
it won't occur again. She says Tappan's job is secure but declined
further comment.

Tappan couldn't be reached for comment, but the student's mother says he told her the note was meant to be sarcastic.

The handwritten note read, "Please banish from the human race and exile accordingly."
