Kroger Expands Ground Beef Recall

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Kroger Co. has expanded its voluntary recall of some ground beef products to stores in more than 20 states, including Scott's stores. The recall extends beyond stores in Michigan and parts of Ohio.

Meat obtained from one of its suppliers, Omaha-based Nebraska
Beef Ltd., has been linked to illness caused by the E. coli bacteria in Michigan and Ohio between May 31 and June 8.

Nebraska Beef has recalled nearly 532,000 pounds of ground beef
produced on five dates between May 16 and June 24. Kroger said
Wednesday that as a precaution it had removed from stores all ground beef supplied by Nebraska Beef and expanded the recall for Kroger stores and its affiliates in about 20 states.

The Cincinnati-based grocery company initiated the recall June
25 for it Kroger stores in Michigan and in central and northern Ohio.
