Bayh Makes First Campaign Appearance With Obama

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana senator Evan Bayh made his
first campaign appearance with Democratic presidential candidate
Barack Obama Wednesday at Purdue University after he supported Hillary Rodham Clinton during the primaries.

Bayh is considered a contender to be Obama's running mate. As
the former governor of a Republican state, Bayh could help Obama.

When asked if he were interested in the job or had provided
material to vetters, Bayh repeatedly referred reporters to the Obama campaign.

Another vice presidential candidate, Georgia Senator Sam Nunn,
also appeared with Obama.

While introducing Obama, Bayh recalled a trip the two made to Iraq. Bayh said Obama was pragmatic and focused, yet wise enough to oppose the conflict from the beginning.
