Manning Still In Pain After Knee Surgery

June 21, 2010 Updated Jul 25, 2008 at 5:50 AM EST

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Peyton Manning says he's still being
treated for swelling in his knee, but he's not in much pain.
The Colts quarterback underwent surgery 10 days ago to remove an
infected bursa sac. Today's conference call with reporters was his
first public comment since the operation.
Manning says he has some pain medication, but he hasn't had to
use any in more than a week, and doctors think that means the
infection is clearing.
The Colts reported to training camp in Terre Haute today, and
practice begins tomorrow.
Manning is expected to miss four to six weeks. For now, he's
keeping his left leg compressed and elevated and continues to take
intravenous fluids and antibiotics to prevent the risk of
infection. He says he's not sure when he'll join the Team in Terre
Haute.
While he's out, longtime backup Jim Sorgi is the starter.
