DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Umpires ejected 15 players and the two managers following a bench-clearing brawl during a tense game
between the Midwest League's Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs, a Cubs Affiliate.

Peoria pitcher Julio Castillo threw a ball toward the Dayton dugout during the fighting, which erupted during the first inning. The ball went into the stands, hitting a fan who was taken to a local hospital. Castillo was arrested on an assault charge.

Before the fight started, the inning featured three hit batters, managers pushing each other and several injured players.

The fighting lasted for about 10 minutes and resulted in an hour
delay.

The Single-A teams protested the ejections by phone to the league president, saying they didn't want pitchers playing in the outfield to complete the game.

The ejections were reversed, and the game resumed at about 8:50
p.m. Dayton won 6-5.

Dayton and Peoria play in the Midwest League along with the Fort Wayne Wizards.
