INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is planning a 16-million-dollar expansion that should be completed by the time of next year's King Tut exhibit.
The project will add almost 38,000 square feet to the 434,000-square-foot museum. It's the biggest expansion since 2004, when a parking garage and skywalk were built.
The new expansion will add a two-story welcome center and
expanded skywalk across Illinois Street to the garage. There also will be two new drop-off lanes on Illinois Street, a new bicycle port, an improved bus shelter and a revamped entryway.
Officials want the work finished by next June, before the
opening of the Egypt exhibit.
