In Your Corner: Missing Headstone

By WISE Web News

(FORT WAYNE, IN) Indiana's NewsCenter --
Two years after her husband passed away, South Whitley's Mary Lou Keele is still waiting for a headstone to honor him. She purchased the stone in 2006 from Crouse Everlasting Memorials in Larwill and was told it would take between 60 and 90 days. In may of 2007, she paid her balance in full and was promised Cecil's headstone would be in place by Memorial day, but nearly two months after that date, Cecil Keele's gravesite is still one of the few in the cemetary unmarked
Despite numerous attempts to contact the owner of Crouse Everlasting Memorials we were not able to speak with him. We did leave a message indicating our interest in the story, a short time later Mary Lou received a phone call of her own.
The caller told Mary Lou that the work should be taking place in the next few days, words that she'd been waiting to hear for 2 years.
Mary Lou said "i'm more positive, it seems like they'll get it done in the next week"
Mary Lou still has the drawing of what the headstone will look like with her name included next to her late husbands. She says she looks forward to finally seeing it in place, complete with a bronze military plaque to honor the Korean War Veteran.
