Fort Wayne Philharmonic Moves Administrative

By Scott Sarvay

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Fort Wayne Philharmonic will be moving its administrative and ticket office in early August to IPFW property. The administrative and ticket office is relocating the week of August 4 to the Ginsberg Building, which is located on the former State Developmental Center property, off St. Joe Blvd., east of the IPFW campus. “The move to IPFW will be very positive to our bottom line as we continue our efforts to financially stabilize the Philharmonic. We will have better rehearsal space and more efficient offices. With the addition of a downtown box office at the Arts United Center, we will now be able to serve the public at two locations. We appreciate the tremendous cooperation of both IPFW and Arts United,” stated Philharmonic Board Chair, Eleanor Marine.

The move also strengthens the relationship between the Philharmonic and IPFW. “I'm very excited about having the Fort Wayne Philharmonic in such close proximity to IPFW, as it offers a fantastic learning opportunity for our students to work with musicians of this caliber. This unique partnership will bring out the strengths of both institutions and makes possible a wide range of activities for the enrichment of our community,” stated IPFW Chancellor Michael A. Wartell.

The orchestra will have rehearsal space available at the new facility. Additional rehearsal space has been contracted at the Auer Performance Hall in the John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center at IPFW as well as their main venue, the Embassy Theatre. The administrative office move will not impact where the orchestra performs. “We are excited to continue to perform in our main venues, such as the Embassy Theatre, Arts United Center, and others,” stated Philharmonic President and CEO, J.L. Nave.

As a benefit to patrons, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will also open a satellite box office in the Arts United Center throughout the season. The downtown location will provide convenience for those located downtown and south Fort Wayne.

The administrative offices will be closed for business from August 4-8 while they complete the move. The Philharmonic encourages patrons to conduct business via telephone at 260-744-1700 during the week due to the office transition.

Single tickets to the 2008-09 season can by purchased beginning August 18 at both ticket office locations, as well as by phone and via the Philharmonic Web site. Season subscriptions are currently on sale.
