Southeast Allen County, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Would you want 4,000 hogs next door?
Neighbors near Heritage High School are worried about the potential financial and environmental impacts a proposed 4,000 hog Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation would have.
They're concerned about property values, as well as waste runoff across their land and eventually into the Maumee River... and possibly into the area's water table.
They're also concerned about the smell.
Charles Critchley\Neighbor Opposed to Hog Farm: " Let's face it -- the odor does eventually permeate into your houses and into your clothing and into your upholstery, into your drapes, into everything else. So that's what we're also concerned about, as well, again, as property values."
The next step is for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to review the application for a permit for the operation.
