INDIANA (21Alive) -- The Affordable Health Care Act is cited as one of the reasons for a massive layoff at the Franciscan Alliance which owns 11 hospitals and health facilities in the Hoosier state.

A spokesperson for the hospital network says they will layoff 275 employees and will cut back another 650 positions. The President and CEO says the healthcare industry is changing rapidly and economic pressures are forcing substantive changes in the field, including reduced reimbursements, new payer models, healthcare reform laws and shifts from inpatient to outpatient care.
