FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Two of Fort Wayne's community treasures will be enhanced, thanks to a large donation from a foundation celebrating a long history in the city.
The Foellinger Foundation announced today, it is giving one million dollars to the City Parks Department, to benefit the Downtown Botanical Conservatory and the Foellinger Outdoor Theater in Franke Park.
The gift comes exactly 50-years after the Foellinger family incorporated the foundation.
The theater will get a new sound system with the money, while the conservatory will try to make its venue more user-friendly.
"Foundations come to support us, but I think we...a lot of times, we satisfy the overall mission of a lot of foundations, and we do a lot of good things, so people like to do good things for us," says Al Moll Director of the Parks Department
The foundation is also spreading a half-million dollars to 22-local non-profit organizations in conjunction with its 50-year anniversary.
