MARION, Ind. (AP) - New tests haven't found high mold levels
inside the Grant County Courthouse. But a judge who moved his
offices from the building says he's still concerned about its
safety because of health problems he and others have suffered.
The tests by the State Department of Health on samples from 12
locations inside the courthouse found that all had lower mold
levels than the outside air.
Superior Court Judge Randall Johnson says his courtroom and
office likely had low fungus counts because of air purification
systems he put in the rooms. He says mold has been a problem in the
courthouse for years and that it became worse since the roof was
damaged two years ago.
Johnson has been working from his home since moving from his
courthouse office last month. He says he and several other county
employees continue to have health problems.
