FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The democratic candidate for governor is asking her opponent to stop campaigning on the taxpayer's dime.
Making a stop at Fort Wayne International Airport this afternoon. Jill Long Thompson is asking Governor Mitch Daniels for a full disclosure of this travel expenses. Long- Thompson says Daniels is using state aircraft not only for campaigning but for personal use as well.
Long- Thompson says, “it is unconscionable that when Hoosier families are facing, lost jobs, and lost income, and are working so hard to pay taxes that we would have a Governor that uses state airplanes, and travel at the taxpayers expense from a vacation home in West Virginia to a regatta to hand out a trophy in the southern part of the state or to take state planes to travel to political events.”
Long- Thompson went on to say she is giving Daniels 48-hours to release his travel records before her campaign will file a public records request as well as file a complaint with the state's Inspector General's Office.
When called for a response Cam Savage, a spokesman for the Mitch Daniels Campaign says that it is just another negative campaign attempt to bolster Long- Thompson numbers in the poll.
