FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- An afternoon ceremony held at Harrison Square's new baseball stadium revealed that Parkview Hospital secured naming rights to the facility by committing three million dollars to the project over ten years.
The announcement attended by Mayor Tom Henry, officials of the Wizards baseball team and Parkview confirmed what Indiana's NewsCenter first reported at noon.
One half of the three million dollar investment will be turned over to the City of Fort Wayne to fund repairs and renovations to the stadium, to ensure it stays in top shape through the years to come.
Parkview is a not-for-profit institution, but Parkview CEO Mike Packnett says its involvement in the project does not go against its mission.
On the contrary, Packnett says plans call for introducing healthier food choices at Wizards home games and to sponsor health and wellness events at the facility during times when baseball games are not scheduled at the venue.
"Parkview Field" will be spelled out in large letters above the entrance to the ballpark when the facility opens next spring.
