FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's News Center)---Last week we reported the controversy between Fort Wayne 6th District City Councilman Glynn Hines and Mayor Tom Henry.
Hines made accusations to Mayor Tom Henry that he was being unfair in regards to his hiring, firing, and promotion policies when dealing with African-Americans.
Mayor Henry responded that his administration could be more diverse.
In a closed door meeting today between the sixth district council member and the mayor, the two men came to terms with some solutions.
Hines says he is happy with the results of the meeting and now trusts that the mayor has a plan.
Mayor Henry: " We're going to be working with a group of individuals in our community to make sure that we are as diverse as possible. Not only representing the African-American community but the other segments of our community too that need proper representation."
Glynn Hines: " We want corporations to see that Fort Wayne is welcoming to all people race, creed, or color it doesn't matter or sexual orientation. So we want to make sure that that's led by the 9th floor and the mayor of this city as well as City Council is that we want to make everyone aware of the fact that Fort Wayne is a world class community and we do welcome diversity."
The two now say that they will be working together to keep and bring a more diverse work environment. Not only to the mayor's office but the city as well.
One that they say truly represents all of the citizens of Fort Wayne.
