3-Year-Old Struck by Mini-Van, Suspected Driver Turns Himself In

Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A Fort Wayne man is in police custody after fleeing the scene of a vehicle accident that caused injury to a three-year-old boy.

Fort Wayne Police responded to the 4900 block of Oliver Street early Sunday evening of reports of a personal injury accident involving three-year-old Jaime Saldana, who was struck by a mini-van.

The suspect Michael T. Harris, 38, of Fort Wayne fled the scene prior to police arrival. Witnesses however were able to provided officers with the description of the driver and his vehicle.

The vehicle was later located in the 200 block of W. Oakdale Drive.

Harris turned himself in and has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury and driving while suspended.

Saldana remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
