Weekend Police Pursuit Heavily Damages a Fort Wayne Home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A local family has been forced out of their home which was damaged during a police pursuit this weekend.

Michelle Bennett says her family was awakened by the incident early Sunday morning.

Everything started when police were called to the Belmont Beverage parking lot on South Anthony Boulevard after midnight Sunday about a disturbance.

When officers arrived at the scene, witnesses pointed them toward a car that was pulling away. Police then chased the car until officials say it lost control and crashed into Bennett's home at 2903 Capitol Avenue. The house was heavily Damage

One of the men in the car, 22 year old Raymond James, tried to flee the scene on foot, but he was captured. The other man, 28 year old Terrance Sanders, was trapped in the car and had to be rescued. He was hospitalized in serious conditon. James was treated in good condition. Both men were then arrested.

However, Bennett's home was condemned after the crash. She says she and her family had to find a new place to live yesterday.
