FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Fort Wayne police say excessive speed was likely the factor in deadly accident Friday night that killed 18-year-old Rodney Thompson, and injured his 15-year-old passenger. Thompson was a senior at Homestead High School.
The accident happened just before 6 P.M. at the intersection of Dicke and Covington on the city's westside. No other vehicles were involved.
Police say Thompson apparently lost control of his vehicle and went off the roadway. Skid marks were visible at the scene. Police also say no alcohol was involved in the accident.
A 15-year-old girl riding with Thompson was rushed to a local emergency room where she last reported to be in fair condition. She has not been publicly identified.
