New Idea For The Harrison Square Project

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Allen County recorder John McGauley believes it might be time to abandon the planned condominiums at Harrison Square and consider something else in its place.

Sales of the condos have been slow amid the slumping housing industry.

McGauley wrote an opinion piece for the Journal Gazette, suggesting the condos be scrapped at the downtown development and replaced with an Imax theater.

McGauley goes on to say, “It's something that would turn an already good idea in Harrison Square into a year round entertainment complex with a product really that renews itself in movies every few months, gives people something fresh and exciting to do in the middle of summer, during baseball season or in the dead of winter when there's not a lot going on at the facility.”

No word yet on what kind of support exists for an Imax theatre, or for any change in the Harrison Square Project.

The City Council is expected to get an update on the condo sales in two weeks.
