INDIANA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - This is the week for all Hoosiers to begin to prepare for the winter weather that is on its way.
Governor Mitch Daniels has proclaimed this week as Indiana Winter Weather Preparedness Week.
Some of the ways to prepare for winter weather is to prepare your home with a three-day supply of food and water.
Last year in Allen County, the Office of Homeland Security implemented travel advisory colors and number levels that will be used this year as well.
Not to be confused with terror alert levels, these are to help Hoosiers in road safety conditions during the winter months.
FW-AC Homeland Security Director Bernard Beier says, " We'll say the color and the letter. We'll always give the definition because we know that people see this only once a year in the wintertime. So we don't expect people to remember what orange means and what red means and what one is, 2 higher than 3, or 3 higher than 2. But in addition to standardizing we'll always tell people exactly in plain English and in plain terms what's going on."
