FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A local college scholarship provider admits it’s feeling the effects of the bad economy.

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne awards about $6-million in scholarships and grants every year.

But, because many of their assets are in the stock market, the amount of money available has declined.

Community Foundation Executive President David Bennett says, “Being able to award scholarships is really part of a larger economic development strategy to get a highly qualified workforce that's available and attract those good jobs to northeast Indiana. That's why every year we're going to try and increase the level of scholarships that we award.”

There is a community scholarship fund.
