FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) –Fort Wayne baseball team, the Tin Caps, officials unveil their new uniforms and announce their coaching staff Tuesday.

General Manager Mike Nutter says he is pleased to welcome back Manager Doug Dascenzo, pitching coach Tom Bradley and hitting coach Tom Tornincasa. Fans at the news conference say they are happy to see familiar faces back in Fort Wayne.

But, they said the biggest thrill was seeing the new uniforms.

“I love the new uniforms,” said season ticket holder Alan Fry. “I went into the shop over there to look at the shirts and I’m torn with which one to buy, a sweatshirt and you gotta have a hat too, right?”

The Tin Caps have four new uniforms. A white pin strip uniform for home games, a solid gray for away, a green shirt with the team’s logo at the top for a batting uniform and, new this year, a fourth “Sunday” uniform. This new special occasion or “Sunday” uniform is a solid red shirt with white pants that fans say is their favorite.

“I like them,” said fan and season ticket holder Jim Sinninger. “The home jersey will be real good. I like them all different color schemes, just perfect.”

All uniforms and Tin Cap gear will be on sale in Glenbrook Square mall at their new merchandise store. The store will be open Friday December 12 and will stay open Fridays-Sundays until the beginning of January.

The Parkview Field logo was also on display for fans to view at the news conference.

Nutter says the team gear, uniforms, and logo are part of an exciting time for the Tin Caps.

The season opener is April 16th, 2009. Team gear is also available online at www.tincaps.com.
