Alumni Pay For Gov's Trip To Ball State Bowl Game

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A Ball State University alumni group will
pick up the tab for Gov. Mitch Daniels' flight to Mobile, Ala., to
see Ball State play in the GMAC Bowl.

The Ball State University Foundation offered to pick up the cost
of the flight to Tuesday night's game after reporters raised
questions about Daniels' use of a state airplane as the governor
works to trim the state budget.

Press Secretary Jane Jankowski said the use of a state aircraft
is proper because the governor is representing the state of
Indiana. But she said the governor later decided to take the
foundation's offer to pay for the flight. The Ball State Foundation
already was providing the governor's ticket and lodging.
