June 18, 2010 Updated Mar 3, 2009 at 5:37 PM EST FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Governor Daniels came to town to try and build support for local government reform in Indiana. Daniels and Former Governor Joe Kernan addressed about 75 people at the downtown Chamber of Commerce. They are traveling the state to push for things like a single county executive model in county governments, and to do away with township government. Some officials say the Kernan-Shepherd Commission that studied such changes needed to work harder to get the township perspective. Cedar Creek Township Trustee Gary Washington says, "They can get some grass roots input from the township trustees and then start over with the bill and let's go from there. There are things that can be corrected, there are ways to save money, but this proposal is a bad proposal." A number of government reform bills are making progress in this year's session of the Indiana General Assembly.
