HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - People through out the nation, including here at home, are using the tax deadline to make a statement.

More than a hundred people rallied outside Huntington's Courthouse against what they say is wasteful government spending at taxpayer's expense, taking a page from the colonists in holding a "tea party".

Demonstrators held signs taking aim at the Obama administration's financial policies.

“Dad would always say you know you never spend more than you can afford and we can't afford this,” said protester Fred Dubois. “So lets take what all of our fathers have taught us and if you're gonna buy something, have the money for it.”

Protestors say President Obama is spending money America doesn't have and bailing out too many companies.

Many organizers say they're upset they're children will be paying for the country's growing debt.

“How are we going to pay for this?” said Dubois. “It's going to be the next generation. And maybe the generation after that that would even see the end of the tunnel. And so that bothers me.”

Protestors signed a piece of paper outlining why they're upset. It's being sent to lawmakers in hopes they'll remember the citizens who elected them.

If you missed today's rally there's another one set for Saturday morning at 11 at the Allen County Courthouse.
