FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Residents in Aboite Township will soon be receiving soft water from Aqua Indiana.

Plans to upgrade all three water plants will begin in less than a month.

The project includes installing additional tanks at the Chestnut Hills and Covington Road plants while completely remodeling the Aboite Township facility.

Officials say customers should only see "minimal" increases in their water bills.

Vice President of Aqua Indiana Bill Etzler says, “The cost to the customer is going to be somewhere between a dollar and a half and two dollars a month when we're finished with it. Significantly less than if you were softening it on your own.”

Aqua Indiana officials say rate increases won't begin until 2011.
