FORT WAYNE, IN (Indianas NewsCenter) - Local Christian radio station Star 88.3 has been sold to a local not-for-profit group. The group is called Star Educational Media Network and is headed by station General Manager Melissa Montana. A major investor came forward after Ryan Elijah broke the story two weeks ago on Indiana's Newscenter. Station workers say it's a huge victory for them and the community.
"We were just thrilled this truly is a miracle for us and just a great victory that really all of us as a staff and everybody else can celebrate, because this decision means that star 88.3 is going to stay in the community", said Don Buettner, Program Director at WLAB
Listeners are not expected to notice a difference. The Lutheran Church -Missouri Synod has owned the station license for the past 23 years.
