Fatal Two Vehicle Crash on U.S. 41

June 18, 2010 Updated Jun 21, 2009 at 6:26 AM EST FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Romney man was killed and his female passenger left in critical condition Saturday afternoon when he failed to stop his motorcycle at a stop sign and it was struck by an SUV.

Indiana State Police say Chase S. Hill, 25, was driving his 2001 Harley Davidson eastbound on Stone Bluff Road around 3:30 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. 41. A southbound 2007 GMC Yukon struck the bike, ejecting Hill and 22-year-old passenger Lauren Vigstol, of Lafayette, from it.

Vigstol was flown by medics to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she remains in critical condition. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fountain County coroner.

The driver of the Yukon was not injured, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
