June 18, 2010 Updated Jun 28, 2009 at 2:03 PM EST FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Three motorcycles traveling eastbound on Maumee Street this morning subsequently hit a curb, ejecting all of the passengers, leaving two people dead and three in serious condition.

Fort Wayne police say at 3:30 a.m. Saturday three motorcycles crashed when each failed to negotiate a curve on Maumee, just west of Comparet Street.

A 38-year-old male and a 25-year-old female, both of Fort Wayne, were pronounced dead at the scene. Three others were transported to a local hospital in serious condition with injuries ranging from broken bones to a head injury, according to reports.

Police say two of the cycles were traveling at a high rate of speed as they approached the curb. Both cycles flipped, ejecting a total of four passengers.

The third motorcycle was traveling a few seconds behind the first two, police say. The operator was unable to stop in time and his cycle hit the curb, also ejecting both of its passengers.

Police say no one was wearing a helmet. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Allen County F.A.C.T. Team.
