June 18, 2010 Updated Jun 30, 2009 at 4:26 PM EST FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A budget shortfall will force the Allen County Department of Health to tighten its belt. Authorities with the Department of Health are expecting a budget shortfall of $300,000 next year. Administrator Mindy Waldron says they will be forced to cut some services while still protecting the public's health. Waldron continues to say, “We have decided to close our laboratory which means we have two sides to that a clinical laboratory, that supports our STD clinic, and our environmental side which does some water testing.” Waldron says other cuts will have to be made including seasonal positions like mosquito control.
