FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - New police officers are being hired, though.

After an intense 14-week training session, six K-9 academy officers and their partners were honored during a ceremony under the Allen County Courthouse rotunda.

Patrolman Mitchell McClure of the Defiance Police Department now has a partner in the fight against drugs, his K-9 Rex.

The class certified the new K-9 officers in obedience control, evidence searching, narcotics tracking, and other skills to aid their departments.
