INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Hoosier Lottery is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of commemorative scratch-off games. The commemorative tickets, which range in price from $1 to $10, feature more than $25 million in total prizes.

Lottery officials say players have won more than $7.2 billion in prizes since the first ticket was sold on Oct. 13, 1989.

Since 1989, officials say the lottery has turned over more than $3.4 billion to the state to reduce motorists' license plate costs and fund pension plans for retired firefighters, police officers and teachers.

The Hoosier Lottery began with a $6 million investment from the state in 1989, after voters approved it in a referendum the previous year.
