GARY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - There could be disease spreading over in Gary, where residents are urging the city's mayor to put garbage collectors back to work.
During a rally Wednesday, protesters called on residents to dump their garbage at Gary’s City Hall until trash collection resumes.
Garbage has been piling up in Gary this week since trash pickup was stopped because of a political dispute.
It stems from the mayor's decision to fire city trash collectors and hire a private company to do the job.
