As General Motors and Chrysler struggled with bankruptcy, many local automotive suppliers battled a loss in business. Now that both companies have emerged from bankruptcy protection is there good news for those suppliers? It seems the trickle down affect is having a positive impact on local automotive suppliers and that combined with an announced expansion at General Motors Fort Wayne, adds even more security for local businesses.

There's good news in Columbia City for Advanced Assembly. That facility already produces seats for the Fort Wayne plant and will soon begin making seats for the new heavy duty trucks that will roll off the assembly lines beginning in January. And in Roanoke, officials with Economy Machine Products have already seen a slight increase in business since GM went back to work last week and are hopeful the expansion will benefit them as well.

Jean Williams, the owner of Economy Machine Products "Of course we all hope to see an increase but we haven't had a discussion along those lines. I think we're all kind of being a bit cautious at this point. The future is so uncertain because the whole problem with the economy goes beyond GM."
