FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A new study shows Indiana is lagging behind other states when it comes to the health of its children.

The 2009 Kids Count Databook compiled by the Annie E. Casey Foundation profiles the well-being of children across the country. It ranks Indiana 31 out of 50.

The study tracks key indicators such as low birth rate babies, teen births and infant mortality rates. In fact, the study shows the sudden infant death rate in Indiana is on the rise, up to 708 in 2006, when the latest data was collected. Data from 2005 shows 698 sudden infant deaths.
