FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Local hotels and businesses are gearing up for what could be a busy weekend.
The annual National Soccer Festival begins on Thursday.
Loaded with lots of talent, the festival also includes fun for adults and many kid events including face painting.
Officials expect thousands of spectators that will help give a much-needed boost to the local economy.
Fort Wayne Visitors Bureau Communication Manager Betsy Perry-Patton says, “We expect all of those visitors to come to town and many will stay over nights in hotels, go shopping, out to eat, and fill up their cars at the gas stations. That’s all a great economic impact for us here locally.”
Sports tourism generates between $13 and $15 million annually in the Fort Wayne community.
