FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The host of the Food Network's "Semi-Homemade" show will be in Fort Wayne in April for the annual "Tapestry Event for Women."
Sandra Lee will serve as the keynote speaker for that function.
Lee creates affordable and attainable meals with her combinations of 70 percent ready-made products and 30 percent fresh food.
Organizers say she was chosen in part for her penny-pinching meal ideas.
Project Manager for Tapestry Ruth Stone says, “She really brings to the table the ability to do things economically in the home and in your kitchen. And then also she has an interesting background with having had to take care of her four younger siblings growing up on welfare and you know thinking outside the box.”
This year, 2 full-year scholarships will be awarded at the Friday, April 23rd event. To 2 women, pursuing health-related college degrees at IPFW.
Indiana's NewsCenter is a proud sponsor of Tapestry Day and Melissa Long will serve as emcee for the event.
