Washington Lawmakers Say Taxing Insurance Is Under Consideration

June 18, 2010 Updated Sep 25, 2009 at 4:12 PM EST WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The health care debate continues on Capitol Hill. The latest proposal being considered, an insurance tax to help pay for the overhaul. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says a tax on high-cost health insurance plans is "under consideration" as Democrats try to reach agreement within their ranks before taking a bill to the house floor later this fall. The House democratic plan originally called for raising income taxes on upper-income people to pay for covering the uninsured.
