Smashing Pumpkins In Woodburn

By Scott Sarvay

June 18, 2010 Updated Nov 4, 2009 at 11:44 AM EST WOODBURN, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A group of spent the day after Halloween disposing of the pumpkins left over from the Great Zoo Halloween. And they found a fun way to get the job done. The Zoo donated its pumpkins and gourds to the Youth Group at Woodburn Missionary Church. The kids built a catapult, and used it to toss the leftovers at an old vehicle. Scott Swymeler with Woodburn Missionary Church says, “It throws about a 55 mile fast ball so far, not quite the launch we are hoping for so far yet, but we have some tweaks we are doing to it.” This is the first year the youth group has catapulted the pumpkins.
