FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne mother who pleaded guilty to two counts of neglect of a dependent was sentenced Tuesday morning to serve two years in prison and another four years on probation.
In July, authorities found 24-year-old Amanda Alvather's three children living in squalor and covered in feces in their west Creighton Avenue home.
Her two-year-old son with down syndrome weighed just 13-pounds, and Alvather allegedly told officers she fed the other two children sugar water.
