FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry says if a casino is allowed in the Buckeye State. It could hurt northeast Indiana’s chance for a gaming referendum.
The mayor has been crusading for a casino referendum for nearly a year.
He says even if Ohio passes the referendum Fort Wayne still has a chance to vote on this controversial topic.
Mayor Henry says, “It doesn't mean necessarily that a referendum for Fort Wayne, for Allen County, is gone. It's just going to make it a little more difficult for us to attract citizens from Ohio to come here because they're going to have that opportunity in Ohio.”
Henry says he would still crusade for a northeast Indiana referendum if a casino is established in Ohio. But acknowledges that would be more difficult to receive a referendum.
