FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - State health officials confirm nine Hoosiers died last week from the H1N1 flu, including one in Allen County.
That surge nearly doubled the state's swine flu fatalities to 20-since June, and health officials say hospitalization rates for influenza and pneumonia have risen 41-percent over the past three weeks as the H1N1 flu outbreak continues.
At the same time, the Fort Wayne - Allen County Health Department is opening its H1N1 flu vaccine clinic to another group of people.
Residents 25 to 64-years-old who have chronic health problems or compromised immune systems, can get the vaccine Thursday from 1 until 6:30 at the Carew Medical Center.
Children under-10 can get a "booster" of the H1N1 vaccine beginning next week.
And Fort Wayne - Allen County Health Commissioner Doctor Deborah McMahan will be a set guest at 12:30 on the “Noon Extra” Thursday to take your calls about the H1N1 flu and its vaccines.
